National Association of Interpretation - South Central Region

Interpretation is a mission-based communication process that forges emotional and intellectual connections
between the interests of the audience and the meanings inherent in the resource.

Do you give talks or lead guided tours?

Do you interact with visitors to help them understand exhibits at your site?

Do you plan talks, tours, or exhibits?

Do you visit schools and other places to present educational programs associated with a heritage site?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may be an interpreter!

Region VI members include folks who work at parks, museums, nature centers, zoos, botanical gardens, aquariums, commercial tour companies, or even theme parks--just to mention a few! We include a wide range of folks that we call family--from college students to college professors, new professionals to veteran professionals to retired professionals and formal educators to non-formal educators! So check out our website and if you'd like to find out more about becoming a Region VI'er contact our membership chair.

Election time
(posted June 15, 2008)

It that time of year again. This year the positions of Deputy Director and Secretary for Region 6 are up for grabs. Descriptions of their duties can be found by clicking on this link. Being a member of the board is a great way to give back to NAI, get to know other members, and learn the ins and outs of the organization. It also looks good on a résumé. Neither incumbent is planning to run for this next term. Therefore, this is a great opportunity to get on the board and represent.

If anyone is interested in running for one of these positions please let Don R. Simons, CHI, Elections Chair know right away.
