News Job Opportunity Curator of Education, Lee Richardson Zoo, Garden City, Kansas (posted June 1)
Join the education team of a progressive mid-western zoo. The Lee Richardson Zoo, an AZA accredited facility located in Garden City, Kansas is seeking a Curator of Education to join our dynamic team. This position requires an individual with excellent organizational, supervisory, team, and communication skills. Position is responsible for all public education activities including wildlife conservation and environmental education. Individual supervises the planning, scheduling, implementation and evaluation of all education staff and programs for the zoo; assists with budgeting and public relations under direction of zoo director, and recruits, trains and supervises volunteers and assigned personnel. Responsible for development of educational graphics.
Bachelors degree in education or biological sciences preferred. Individual should have excellent word processing skills. Experience with Access, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Front Page desirable. One year or more experience working with volunteers and coordinating varied activities for a public service organization required. Bilingual proficiency a plus but not required.
The zoo is a department of the City of Garden City, a municipal government
serving a growing and diverse city of 28,500, and a regional population
of 310,000. Salary range is $15.91 to $23.92/hour DOQ with excellent benefits
